Lead Supervisory Social Worker

The incumbent directly supervises multiple GS-12 supervisors and GS-7 Social Services Assistants. This includes setting performance standards, writing position descriptions, conducting semi-annual evaluations and counseling employees whose performance is marginal or unsatisfactory. Inclusive in the incumbent's duties are making recommendations for performance awards, initiating, reviewing and approving serious disciplinary actions when required, hiring new employees (including subordinate supervisors), and obtaining resources for additional training needs of their employees. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the new employee orientation plan and adapting the plan to ensure that new staff are well trained and equipped in both technology and clinical skill to support the often complex and individualized needs of callers. The incumbent will work closely with the Quality Assurance and Clinical Training Team supervisors to ensure that staff learn and understand how to use the technology at the Caregiver Support Line, program software and database. The incumbent will oversee organizational, improvement initiatives and projects within Quality Assurance and Clinical Training. This includes but is not limited to the development and implementation of Telephone Education Groups and the advanced licensure program. The incumbent will ensure call center industry standards, individualized interventions, clinical skills, and information technology skills are being applied throughout the call centers. The incumbent will oversee silent monitoring for all Caregiver Support Line media outlets including phone, text and chat. Staff will be monitored at least monthly, in accordance with AFGE and SEIU standards. The incumbent will develop and work collaboratively with bargaining units to support staff growth and development. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The incumbent is responsible to the Caregiver Support Line Program Coordinator but practices independently, exercising initiative and independent judgment in day-to-day activities and supervision of support line supervisors and staff. Supervision/consultation is of an administrative and professional nature; with the Caregiver Support Line Coordinator providing guidelines as to the general policy and direction of the National Caregiver Support Line and guidelines to the Social Work practices, policies and procedures. In unusual and/or complex administrative and clinical problems, the incumbent initiates consultation with the VA Caregiver Support Line Coordinator or designee, as well as with other authoritative resources at the Medical Center, such as Regional Counsel, Business Services, Fiscal, and Human Resource Management Services. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. 2nd Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as supervisory social workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations:
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Must be in overall good health, able to sit at a desk working at a computer, engage in light to moderate physical activity including sitting, walking, bending, and carrying supplies. The Social Worker must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions, with reasonable accommodation if necessary, without endangering the health and safety of the social worker or others. Position requires walking throughout the clinic and/or Medical Center, standing for extended periods of time, and involves sitting at a computer and in counsel and consultation with Veterans and interdisciplinary teams. Position may require travel into the community to meet with Veterans, caregivers, and community agencies and partners. This position also requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as:
preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. _____________________________________ __________________

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
