IT Specialist - Customer Support

The incumbent serves as a Team Lead, Information Technology (IT) Specialist to the Facility Chief Information Officer (FCIO) for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (Ol&T).
Oversees the development, implementation and management of IT processing systems in which the incumbent serves.
The systems environment includes mini and micro based computer systems, local area networks, wide area networks and interfaces to mainframe computers.
The incumbent works in a multi-vendor IT environment supporting multi-user computer systems.
Leads a unit or team of employees.
Provides training, guidance and technical direction for accomplishing the work of the unit or team.
Ensures the work assignments of employees in the unit or team are carried out.
The incumbent demonstrates trustworthiness, care and discretion when handling sensitive data.
The incumbent will protect printed and electronic files containing sensitive data from unauthorized release, loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion.
Incumbent access to sensitive data is for official use only.
The incumbent will follow applicable Federal, VA and local regulations, instructions, policies and procedures regarding the use of sensitive data.
This position may require shift work and frequent travel to Rochester CBOC locations, occasionally on short notice.
Travel may include driving to other locations to support the mission.
Overtime work may be required.

Canandaigua, NY; however, selectee may be required to work at any of the Rochester locations at the discretion of the agency.
