Varies; will have to be available to work weekends, off-shifts, and holidays.
Tours of Duty are subject to change based on program needs.
Major Duties:
This position will work within the Veterans Crisis Line to assist in the delivery of evidenced based practice for veterans who need assistance through the VA National Homelessness/ Suicide/Mental Health Crisis Hotline.
This position is responsible for implementing crisis intervention and suicide prevention strategies at the national level including providing support for the identification of veterans at high risk and coordinating enhanced care as indicated.
Conducts telephone interviews, lethality assessments, and utilizes other assessment tools to assess emotional, functional and/or psychological conditions.
Completes structured safety and clinical assessments.
Prepares and maintains administrative records and reports in accordance with program guidelines.
Provides psycho-education and direct advice regarding suicide/mental illness crises.
Works collaboratively with other members of the Veterans Crisis Line to identify appropriate services to patients in crisis.
Provides immediate intervention for Veterans at risk to themselves or others.

Relocation expenses are not authorized for this position.
Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level GS 11 without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
