The Family Engagement Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating Family Team Meetings.
Primary Job Functions Demonstrates and models sensitivity to the cultural background of children, families, and co-workers.
Maintains Family Team Meeting model fidelity.
Serves as the lead coordinator and facilitator for Family Team Meetings.
Works collaboratively with families, providers, and supports while maintaining neutrality.
Participates in pre-planning meetings.
Demonstrates flexibility in accommodating the scheduling needs of the family and their team when planning for the meeting.
Conducts Family Team Preparation meetings with each identified participant prior to the Family Team Meeting.
This may involve phone calls, family contact in the home or community, and meetings with other professionals.
Sends invitations and/or meeting notifications to identified team participants and supports.
Fosters open, honest, cooperative conversations, and discussions, to include the child's welfare and concerns that prompted the County's involvement, while highlighting family driven goals, strengths, challenges, and concerns faced by the family.
Provides a safe, team environment for the family, case worker, and other identified supports to assess needs and develop of the service plan.
Works with the family and the Caseworker to identify and maximize their support network.
Engages and prepares all participants to include the wider family circle, the family's informal support network, and professionals working with the family.
Maintains the focus of all Family Team Meetings to address the children's needs for safety, permanency and well-being.
Acts as liaison and facilitator between the family, service providers, supports, and any other agencies (i.
e.
school, mental health, probation, DSS) to obtain bottom lines to establish service plans for the family.
Arranges follow-up meetings as requested by the family and/or the Department of Children's Services.
Ensures accurate documentation of Family Team Meetings, and the plans created during the meetings.
This may include both written and electronic records.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred; unrelated bachelor's degree is strongly encouraged.
Must have a valid driver's license and driving record in accordance with agency standards.
Experience:
2
years direct Human Services, Crisis management, person-centered services and community-based care experience preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
